Snug Harbor Jazz Revival Series Week 3 Recap

Snug Harbor Jazz Revival

The Snug Harbor Jazz Revival Series continued with the Herlin Riley Quartet on Stagit, and the band was in excellent form from start to finish.

The set opened with a bluesy jazz cut penned by W.C. Handy titled St. Louis Blues. You could feel the New Orleans groove starting to move the soul.

That groove continued with a pair of Herlin Riley original tunes titled Bird Life and Spring Fantasy.

Each group member put in some excellent instrumental work throughout the show, and the Baron of the Boom Boom set the pace.

Mr. Riley shared some heartfelt memories of the late Ellis Marsalis and their time performing at Snug Harbor, and then he performed a tune penned by Mr. Marsalis titled Tell Me.

Next up were a couple of jazz standards, You Don’t Know What Love Is, followed by Limehouse Blues.

The journey continued with a cut from his Cream of the Cresent album titled Trouble In Treme, and then this amazing set came to a fitting end with a traditional Mardi Gras tune titled Tootie Ma Is A Big Fine Thing

Excellent Show!
