For listeners who appreciate exceptional audio storytelling, Big Age demonstrates exactly how far spoken-word entertainment has evolved. Created exclusively for audio, this Audible Original blends comedy, heartfelt moments, and an outstanding ensemble cast into an immersive listening experience that feels much more like a modern radio drama than a traditional audiobook.

Co-created by Kenya Barris, Danny Segal, Isaac Schamis, and Anna Donnella, Big Age follows recently retired couple Dot and Butch Watts as they settle into Sunset Gardens, a Florida retirement community that is anything but quiet. What begins as a reluctant move soon turns into a vibrant adventure filled with unforgettable neighbors, unexpected friendships, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.

A Cast That Brings Every Character to Life

One of the greatest strengths of Big Age is its remarkable cast. Rather than relying on a single narrator, each performance adds distinct personality and authenticity to the story.

The cast includes:

  • Jenifer Lewis as Dot Watts

  • Cedric the Entertainer as Butch Watts

  • Niecy Nash-Betts

  • Diarra Kilpatrick

  • Miles Brown

  • P.J. Byrne

  • Sophie Hayden

  • Nana Visitor

  • Michael Harney

  • Jim Meskimen

  • Jane Gennaro

  • Ezra Knight

The result is a dynamic production where conversations feel entirely natural, characters are instantly recognizable, and every scene unfolds with the infectious energy of a live performance.

Created for Listening First

Unlike many audiobooks adapted from print, Big Age was written specifically as an audio production. Every line of dialogue, every sound effect, and every musical cue was designed with listeners in mind.

Available in Dolby Atmos on compatible devices, the production creates an immersive soundscape that adds rich depth to conversations and places listeners right in the middle of the action. Even without Dolby Atmos, the sound design remains polished and engaging, making this a highly enjoyable experience whether you are using headphones, smart speakers, a car audio system, or traditional stereo equipment.

For those who love classic radio drama, today’s scripted podcasts, or premium spoken-word productions, Big Age seamlessly offers the best of all three.
